Polymer Bale Packaging

Plastic processors often receive their polymers in bale form.  These bales weigh about 90 lbs each and are often in "friable" form.  That is, they are a compressed crumb and can be damaged without secure wrapping. These bales are wrapped in film and then inserted into a corrugated carrier for protection.  They are then stacked in aluminum returnable containers for shipment.

Automation of this process is quite difficult because the bales are a tight fit into their corrugated carriers.  Sage Automation developed a special packaging system that does this job.  This sub-system; combined with a specially designed bale wrapper, conveyor system, and gantry or articulated arm robot; completely automate this difficult task.
