Inside Diameter Tire Pick Robot - 2

This new robot sorts tires coming from multiple manufacturing lines, stores them, and then palletizes when a full pallet of product is ready. It uses a new inside diameter pick clamp to move varying sizes of tires and a load cell allows it to adjust dynamically for tire compression and hang.

This second video shows the conveyor and robot working together to make multiple picks at a time.

Tube Handling

Tubes of various sizes, styles, and lengths require bundling into hex shaped bundles and strapping prior to shipment.  Historically, this has been a time consuming, labor intensive task, which often was the bottleneck in this customer's production cycle.

Sage Automation designed a system to automate this entire process, from the tube cut off section, through to the exit conveyor for the banded bundles.

Polymer Bale Packaging

Plastic processors often receive their polymers in bale form.  These bales weigh about 90 lbs each and are often in "friable" form.  That is, they are a compressed crumb and can be damaged without secure wrapping. These bales are wrapped in film and then inserted into a corrugated carrier for protection.  They are then stacked in aluminum returnable containers for shipment.

Robotic Slit Sorting System

Nonwoven materials are layered synthetics made in a calendaring type of process.  These materials are used in a variety of products, such as diapers, surgical gowns, and filters.  They are made in large rolls that are slit into different widths for their specific end products.

Previous automation had used conveyor systems to transport and sort the slit rolls.  As slit widths decreased in size, the conveyors would no longer reliably handle the thinner slits.  Sage Automation addressed this problem with a robotic handling system.

Press to Pallet

Signatures, which are loose stacks of thin printed-paper sheets used in the book making industry, exit the press in uniform, strictly aligned stacks.  These signatures must be stacked on pallets for work-in-process storage.  Successful automation of this application requires that loose stack alignment not be disturbed during the conveying or the palletizing process.

Sage Automation designed a system to meet this customer's demands.
