Industry automation
Sheet, Pipe, Tube and Warehouse Automation
Sage engineers robotic handling for long, heavy and bulky metal products that create demanding payload, balance, reach and storage requirements.

Automation for metal products with challenging geometry and mass
Sheet, plate, pipe and tube products may be flexible, sharp, oily, hot or difficult to support without deflection. Long products create large moments and clearance envelopes that must be included in robot and tooling calculations.
Sage develops gantry or FANUC robot systems with custom tooling, conveyors, storage positions, machine interfaces and safety controls. Applications include warehouse movement, process loading, sorting, stacking and finished-product handling.
Application data to define
- Length, weight and center of gravity
- Deflection and required support points
- Surface oil, scale and temperature
- Sharp edges and tooling wear
- Machine and storage tolerances
- Product separation and identification
What the system can include
Long-product handling
Support pipe, tube, bar and structural products while controlling balance and clearance through the motion path.
Sheet and plate transfer
Move flat products between storage, process machines, inspection, stacking and shipping operations.
Heavy warehouse automation
Coordinate storage locations and production demand for large metal products and fabricated components.

Frequently asked questions
Can robots handle very long pipe or tube?
Yes, when tooling, payload, inertia and facility clearances are engineered for the full load. A gantry is often useful for long travel and multiple support points.
Can Sage automate metal-product storage?
Yes. Sage can combine gantry movement, storage locations, conveyors and controls to place and retrieve metal products automatically.
